Kenmore · Seattle Area · By Appointment
Aesthetic wellness and restorative skin therapy in the Seattle area. Traditional facialist care, informed by advanced aesthetics and shaped around the skin in front of me.
Science informs the treatment. Presence shapes the experience.
The Practice
Seattle Skin Therapy is a private skin therapy practice built around a single question. What does this skin need today?
The answer changes. Two people may arrive with similar concerns and require entirely different care, and the same person may need something different from one season to the next. Treatment here begins with observation rather than assumption: how your skin looks, how it functions, what it has already been through, what it can tolerate and what it is ready for.
The practice brings together four things that are often kept apart. The traditional care of the facialist, with its cleansing rituals, manual exfoliation, extraction and massage. The knowledge of modern aesthetics, earned across years of advanced device-based treatment. Restorative therapy for skin that has been asked to do too much. And technology used sparingly, only where it has a clear purpose within the treatment.

The Treatment Room
Where science, skilled hands and the luxury of time meet.
Begin Here
Your first treatment is an introduction to both your skin and the philosophy of Seattle Skin Therapy.
We begin with conversation, observation and a detailed assessment of your skin, treatment history, current products, sensitivities, concerns and long-term goals. From there, your facial is created according to what your skin needs that day.
This is an extended consultation and a customized facial rather than a discounted one. You will leave with a clearer understanding of your skin and recommendations for the care that follows. You do not need to diagnose your own skin before you arrive. That discernment is part of the care.
Cleansing, dermaplaning, diamond microdermabrasion, enzymes, infrared warming, European extraction techniques, facial and décolleté massage, professional serums, treatment masks, LED therapy and restorative finishing products. Not every modality is used in every facial.
Aesthetic Wellness
Aesthetic wellness recognizes that skin exists within a living human system. It is the intersection of skin health, aesthetic knowledge, sensory experience and whole-person wellbeing.
Stress, sleep, inflammation, hormones, environment, touch, sensory input, lifestyle, treatment history and emotional state can all influence how skin behaves and how it heals. Seattle Skin Therapy does not treat these factors as separate from aesthetic outcomes.
Your skin is living tissue, and it is also part of your human experience. It reflects time, environment, expression and the accumulated demands of living. It can also carry the history of everything that has already been done in the hope of improving it.
The purpose of treatment is not simply to make the skin look temporarily better. It is to improve the quality, resilience, function and recoverability of the skin over time. Skin cared for this way is also better prepared for more intensive aesthetic procedures when you choose them, and better equipped to recover afterward.
The practice creates conditions that support the skin before, between and after more intensive treatment. The intention is not merely correction.
It is resilience.
Restorative Aesthetics
Beautiful skin is not created by continuously injuring, stripping, stimulating or correcting it. Repeated aggressive procedures are not always the best answer, and they are rarely the whole answer.
Skin that has been overtreated, sensitized, depleted, inflamed, dehydrated or simply overwhelmed. Often it has been treated attentively and with real enthusiasm. What it has not been given is the time and the conditions it needs in order to recover between interventions.
Restorative aesthetics begins by asking what the skin is missing rather than what else can be done to it.
Barrier function, hydration, circulation, cellular renewal, a healthy inflammatory response, tissue resilience and recovery capacity. Depending on the skin, that may involve barrier restoration, controlled exfoliation, circulatory stimulation, LED therapy, microcurrent, massage, professional topical therapy, calming treatment, thoughtful spacing between appointments, preparation before a procedure and support during recovery.
Skin barrier restoration is not a gentler version of real treatment. It is often the treatment that makes everything else possible.
The Measure of Strong Skin
The strongest skin is not necessarily the skin that has received the most treatment. It is the skin capable of responding, repairing and recovering well.
Which is why the most useful question is rarely what else can be done, but what this skin is ready for.
The Treatment Approach
There is no predetermined facial protocol. Each appointment begins with the skin in front of me.
Your treatment may emphasize exfoliation, extraction, hydration, circulation, sculpting, calming, barrier repair, cellular renewal or recovery, depending upon what your skin requires that day. Techniques are chosen according to the condition of your skin, your history, your tolerance, your goals and the longer plan we are building together.
You do not need to choose a device or assemble a treatment from a list. Choose the amount of time you would like to spend in care. After assessing your skin, I will determine the techniques, professional formulations and emphasis that are appropriate for you.
Diamond microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, enzyme exfoliation, infrared warming, European extractions, high frequency, microcurrent, LED photobiomodulation, facial and décolleté massage, gua sha inspired movement, professional masks and paraffin hand treatment are all available within the practice. They are therapeutic tools, selected intentionally rather than added simply because they exist.
Technology is not the treatment. It is one of the tools available within a larger treatment philosophy.
How each modality is usedThe LaDean
Skin tells us what it needs. The Code tells us what comes next.
A multidimensional method developed from 26 years of professional observation, created to understand skin beyond appearance alone.
Five interacting domains create a fuller picture of how the skin may respond. From that understanding comes treatment readiness and direction.
The skin beneath what is visible.
How skin responds, signals and recovers.
The cumulative imprint of living.
Resilience under stress and change.
What the skin has already revealed.
The five domains describe the skin. Readiness determines the treatment.
Treatment Direction
Instead of placing your skin into a fixed category, each appointment begins with a small set of questions.
Your skin is understood first. Treatment follows.
Strengthen and condition before greater intervention.
Address what can be changed with purpose and precision.
Return comfort, balance and resilience to the skin.
Protect progress through thoughtful, consistent care.
These are directions for professional care rather than labels for people. Skin changes because people change, so the treatment follows the skin instead of forcing the skin to follow a protocol.
Skin and the Nervous System
The two do not have to compete. Care begins in the moment you decide to make space for yourself, and in choosing your appointment you have already begun.
The skin and the nervous system are biologically interconnected.
They arise from related embryonic tissue and share signaling molecules and stress-response pathways, which is one reason the experience of a treatment is difficult to separate from the treatment itself. The skin is a sensory organ in continuous conversation with the body.
Warmth, rhythm, pressure, scent, sound, breathing, rest and attentive human touch become more than technique. They shape the experience of feeling safe enough to soften, quiet enough to breathe and cared for enough to receive. I will not tell you that an hour of rest cures a skin condition. I will tell you that care given attentively is not the same as care given quickly.
Professional skincare is also my own practice of care. I feel most fully myself when I am helping another person. There is a particular grace in being trusted with someone’s face, their history and the hopes they bring into the room.
I receive that trust with compassion, skill and reverence. Every treatment is an opportunity to help someone feel seen, understood and beautifully attended to.
The room matters. The rhythm matters. The touch matters. The stillness matters.

More Than a Profession
For me, the practice of aesthetics is more than a profession. It is a vocation.

Advanced Aesthetic Experience
Years of working with advanced aesthetic technologies influence the way I practice today. Understanding what intensive treatments ask of the skin has made me equally interested in what allows skin to tolerate them, recover from them and remain resilient afterward.
These technologies are not all offered at Seattle Skin Therapy. This background informs how I evaluate skin, how I prepare clients for procedures performed by their physician, dermatologist, injector or laser provider, and how I support the skin during recovery. When a concern belongs in medical hands, I will say so.
Menu of Services
A small number of services, each one adapted to the skin receiving it. Pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure restoration are also available for clients working with a medical provider.
An extended consultation and a customized facial. The preferred introduction to the practice and the right place to begin.
Ongoing personalized care for established clients. Choose the time; the treatment is created around the skin that day.
For skin that feels sensitized, depleted, dehydrated, overtreated or simply unfamiliar. Comfort, barrier support and recovery.
Traditional Methods
Seattle Skin Therapy honors traditional facialist practice: cleansing rituals, massage, manual exfoliation, extraction, compresses, sculpting movements and treatment delivered through the hands. The approach is influenced by European facial traditions and by selected techniques drawn from longstanding beauty rituals practiced in many parts of the world. Where gua sha inspired movements are used, they are adapted within a contemporary facial protocol. Gua sha originates in traditional Chinese practice, and I borrow selected movements with respect for that origin rather than presenting the work as traditional Chinese medicine.
Home Care
Product recommendations should support the treatment plan rather than overwhelm the person following it.
I would rather give you three products your skin genuinely needs than ten products it does not. A complicated routine is not a sign of a serious one, and a long list of actives is not evidence of good care.
Home care here focuses on consistency, barrier protection, sun protection, compatibility with what we do in the treatment room and appropriate active ingredients introduced at a pace your skin can sustain.
The Apothecary · In Development
The Seattle Skin Therapy private-label collection is being developed slowly and intentionally, professional backbar first.
Each formulation will begin as part of the treatment experience, chosen for performance, compatibility and purpose. Retail will follow in time, only after the products have earned their place in the practice.
Nothing excessive. Nothing without reason.
About Kavina
I have spent more than two decades working with skin.
My career has moved through traditional aesthetics, advanced laser and device-based treatment, clinical environments, luxury skincare, professional education and hands-on facial therapy. Over time my philosophy became simpler rather than more complicated. I became less interested in doing the most to the skin and more interested in understanding what the skin actually needs.
Seattle Skin Therapy grew from that philosophy. I believe advanced aesthetic treatments can be extraordinary tools, and I also believe their success depends partly upon the quality, resilience and condition of the skin receiving them. My work is about creating that foundation.
Sometimes that means exfoliation, stimulation or correction. Sometimes it means hydration, touch, circulation, rest, barrier repair, or simply leaving the skin alone long enough to recover.
The treatment should serve the skin. The skin should never be forced to serve the treatment.
